Field work evaluation in social work

In my field work placement I was able to accomplish the assigned tasks such as gathering information and discussing relevant information on various issues affecting the community on drug addiction. I had appropriate questions regarding the addicted individuals. I was able to take and utilize of the addiction population on daily basis to development of professional social worker. I attended regular meetings with my field instructor. On my first week on the field study I was able to meet with new group members and learnt social work languange and vocabulary (Grinnell & Unrau, 2005).

On application of ethics and values in the field, I was able to communicate proffessionally to any bias information and conflicts, identify advocacy issues and initiating them. In some of the situations I was not able to find solutions to a certain problem. I would look for help from my supervisor and field instructor on how to solve ethical dilemmas effectively. During this process I learnt self awareness and was able to learn more on how to utilize NASW code of ethics (Reamer, 1998).

During socialization into social work profession I was able to demonstrate self correction and proffesional boundaries. I was able to show the roles of a social worker, resolve conflicts with the code of ethics and recognize professional limitations and strengths. This helped me to easily get the important information from the community.

During the field placement I was open and well prepared this helped to be able to learn tasks and my responsibilities. I was able to manage my time well inorder to achieve the weekly report with my supervisor. Though I experienced difficulties in acquiring information I was able to grow my knowledge as a professional social worker in my field placement.
